Grossarltal - 48h in Austria

2020 is the year of #staycation. So after the reopening of the country we decided to explore our neighbours backyards a little bit more and spend some time in Grossarltal, a valley in the state of Salzburg in western central Austria.
Famous for its endless hiking opportunities, we choose to tackle the mountain Schuhflicker (2.214 m) on a rainy day. Starting point for the hike is the Aualm - a traditional mountain hut providing rest, tasty food, cold beer and amazing views over the valley. On our way up thick fog was swirling around and almost at the top a heavy rain shower caught us. But, as conditions can change instantly in the mountains, the sun greeted us shortly after, drying our cloths and warming my freezing cold hands. Back at the Aualm we rewarded ourselves with a beer, cake and blue sky. A perfect day!
